1.
Semen Analysis
This simple screening test for investigation of male infertility checks the sperm count, sperm motility (i.e. % actively moving sperm) and sperm morphology (how many sperm has normal shape and size).
2.
Hyaluronan Sperm Binding Assay
This test uses an artificial matrix to simulate cells surrounding an egg. It serves as way of assessing the sperms ability to locate and attach itself to a simulated egg membrane.
3.
Sperm preparation for Intra-uterine insemination (IUI)
The most active normal sperm is isolated from immotile sperm by means of a 2-layer density gradient and washed free of seminal plasma. It can then be used for intra-uterine insemination.
4.
Sperm Banking
Sperm can be stored for long periods in the frozen state. Your husband’s previously frozen sperm can be thawed and used for intra-uterine insemination when he is outstation, overseas or otherwise unable to be present during your fertile time.

Men afflicted with cancer can also store their sperm prior to undergoing cancer therapy. This will serve as a backup in the event that anti-cancer drugs has destroyed sperm-producing cells in the testes.
5. Donor sperm
Some men fail to produce sperm in their testes. Donor sperm may be obtained from sperm banks with physical profiles matched as closely to them as possible for use in the intra-uterine insemination procedure if their wives have patent fallopian tubes.
